Screws
Plasticizing screws are fundamental in plastic processing, ensuring the correct melting and mixing of the material. Their carefully designed profile directly affects the performance and quality of the production process, optimizing material flow and reducing waste.
The use of special steels and surface treatments improves durability and performance, ensuring a long service life even under harsh working conditions and when processing corrosive materials.
Barrels
Plasticizing barrels are also essential in machinery for processing polymers and, more generally, viscoelastic materials. When heated, they help mix the material, bringing it to the ideal temperature and consistency for processing.
Barrels are designed to withstand high temperatures and pressures, with special coatings to prevent wear.
Viplas performs all barrel processing in-house on specifically designed machinery, including deep drilling and lapping. We manufacture barrels in various steel alloys (including stainless steel), with loading ports, degassing, straight and spiral internal grooves. We also perform external grooving for cooling, thermocouple drilling, and head machining.
Tips
Screw Tips are an essential part of the plasticizing units.
In the injection molding process, the seal between the ring, valve, and feed material is the key to success. A hermetic seal prevents material from leaking out of the injection chamber, ensuring a controlled and uniform flow towards the mold.
Positioned at the end of the screw, they serve several crucial functions. They regulate the flow of plastic material during plasticization and must close securely to avoid leaks or undesired flows. They ensure uniformity in material dosing, thereby guaranteeing consistent quality of the produced parts and high repeatability in the production process.
They must be made from wear-resistant and high-temperature-resistant materials to ensure prolonged durability and reliable performance over time. We can supply nozzles with special heat treatments, in sintered steel (recommended when extreme resistance, including corrosion resistance, is required), with hard metal coatings on the base of the fins.
